Worker’s Rights

Our successful, market-driven economy rewards the best of the best in the workplace, and there is no worker like an American worker. However, American companies can find cheap labor overseas. And, there is a reason: Workers in some countries have no ability to enforce their rights or demand a living wage. In countries like China, rights exist on paper, but not in practice. Chinese workers have only the minimum amounts of salary, safety and rest to keep them alive, no more.

In the United States, miserable sweatshop conditions are a thing of the past thanks to the efforts of union workers and leaders. Tools like true collective bargaining enables communication between workers and management which continues to benefit all of industry. And when we insist that trade agreements include our standards of workers??? rights, we export not only more American goods, but American standards of human rights.

We also stem the flow of thousands of American jobs that continue to be sent overseas. David Ashe will continue to support union leaders and workers who promote the high standards of safety, efficiency and quality for the American workplace.
